Hello fellow fasters!
We are almost thru our second week and our 12th day of our annual 21 day fast. Be encouraged! Fasting has such amazing benefits. Not only does it draw you closer to God and make your more sensitive to His voice, it can also help you get a fresh perspective on things, and it boosts your health!
Often we can learn to replace a negative habit with a positive one thru fasting. Scientists say it takes 21 days to develop a new habit. Has anyone got to the end of the 21 day fast and thought “I could continue this”? Believe it or not, I have. That’s because it takes 21 days to develop that new habit! How interesting!
Worship often becomes more intimate during fasting. We actively and passionately go after God and He becomes more real to us. Worship re-energizes our spirits. Because we are more “in tune” with the Spirit during fasting, we hear and respond to His voice more readily thru worship. We put aside our busyness and the clutter of life to make important time with Jesus. We refocus!
Sacrificing meals or even behaviors causes us to develop fresh devotion for the Lord and shows our levels of commitment and love for Him.
Unplug, unwind, and reflect in the days left on our fast. Find a scriptures that speaks to you and begin to declare it, stand on it, and believe it! It’s often easier to do this because our minds are more focused on the Word and less on other things. God’s Word comes alive when you read and study it during fasting. Make your requests known to God thru prayer. What are you expecting from Him? How are you expecting to grow and thrive thru this fast? It’s not too late to make that list of what you’re believing for and to start standing firm and believing for it!
Don’t give up! Put forth your best efforts to finish strong!
