Day Six - 21 Day Fast, January 14, 2017

Fasting stinks… like literally when you fast you detox bad stuff out your body. It’s science! Ok, promise no more jokes… probably. Why do we fast? Going without food, when our culture is driven by getting together and eating.  Well here are a couple of concepts I keep in mind when I fast.

1.      Discipline and Perseverance

Obviously a much quoted scripture when it comes to fasting is:

Matt 6:17-18 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Another very awesome Scripture is:

1 Corinthians 9:27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

So from these passages we find that fasting is a command, and the Father who sees in secret will reward you. Fasting is a time to discipline our bodies and lean upon the Lord and to receive a reward from an all-powerful God is pretty great reason to fast.

2.       Grow closer to God

Isaiah 40:31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Fasting is an exercise in trusting Father God for your strength. If you are faithful to meet him in prayer, read His Word (A.K.A. the Bible, or God’s “Facebook”, or God’s “love letter” to humanity well if you’re a girl, and you like that sorta thing) He will renew your strength.

SO hang in there friend (just like that kitty cat on those inspirational posters) people are going to experience breakthrough in their lives because of the fast, God has some awesome blessings for us, there are great things on the way! Praying for you guys!

Don’t just have a good day, Have a blessed day!
