Jesus Longs to Reveal Himself to Us

In my personal devotion, I’m reading the story of Joseph. In Chapter 45, we see after Joseph has gone through many trials: being sold, being a slave, being in jail, being forgotten - to finally being on top. This chapter focuses on Joseph reuniting with his family.

I want to share a revelation I felt in reading this portion of scripture. In Exodus 45 Joseph has confronted his brothers again, and he is so overwhelmed with emotion:

Joseph could stand it no longer. There were many people in the room, and he said to his attendants, “Out, all of you!” So he was alone with his brothers when he told them who he was.” (Exodus 45:1).

Joseph was so overwhelmed in finally getting to reveal himself to his family. I kind of look at this portion of scripture through Jesus' eyes. How he might feel when he finally can reveal himself in our lives.

Jesus longs to reveal himself to us. I can imagine the day that he revealed himself to Paul on the road to Damascus. Was he crying for joy in the revelation?  Paul wasn’t even searching for Jesus, but a time came when Jesus knew - "Okay, I know I can show Paul who I am."

Jesus wants to show himself to all people, and when we seek him out, I just see him crying out in such an overwhelming joy that he can now reveal his identity to us. The best part about that is then our identity changes, because we now become like Jesus. And there is a joy when we get to reveal that identity to other people!  I love sharing my identity in Christ, because it causes joy, peace, forgiveness, and all the other characteristics that come with Christ's identity being revealed.  So today remember - Jesus wants to reveal even more of Himself to you.
